Brat, the Gen Z-focused digital studio and network, said Friday it has renewed and set release dates for five original series and ordered two new series, one featuring Anna Cathcart from To All the Girls I’ve Loved Before and Odd Squad and another starring up-and-coming pro boxer Ryan “Kingry” Garcia.

Also back for second seasons will be the Nancy Drew-like mystery series A Girl Named Jo starring Addison Riecke (premiere date: January 8); Dirt, with Kalani Hilliker and Lilia Buckingham (January 11); and Boss Cheer starring Tessa Brooks and Sofie Dossi (January 1). “Year one was about introducing this generation to Brat, our family of talent, and slate of shows,” said Brat co-founder Rob Fishman. “Over the next year, we’ll be doubling down on our existing hits, and releasing a new wave of must-see TV for our audience.” Brat raised $30 million in a July funding round and recently expanded to a new, 10,000-square-foot studio in Hollywood.

Digital Studio Brat has tapped To All the Boy I've Loved Before actress Anna Cathcart to lead its latest teen series. Cathcart, who broke out as younger sister Kitty in the Netflix romantic comedy, is set to star in Zoe Valentine as a high school freshman whose older sister dies from cancer, propelling her into the spotlight. The actress' first credit was for Disney Channel's Descendants 2. She also starred in PBS' Odd Squad and is set to return as Dizzy Tremaine in Descendants 3. "Working with talent of Anna's caliber sends an important signal both to our viewers and to the industry at large," said Brat co-founder Rob Fishman. "This is where our demographic tunes in every day to watch television." Joining Catchcart in Zoe Valentine are Diego Velazquez (The Thundermans) and Mace Coronel (Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn). The series goes into production in December and is expected to debut in early 2019. Zoe Valentine is the latest web series from one-year-old Brat, which established a young fan base with dance series Chicken Girls. The Los Angeles-based studio also produces series Total Eclipse and is planning a special Holiday Spectacular. The one-year-old company, which operates a YouTube channel with 2.1 million subscribers, is premiering five shows during the first week of September to kick off its fall programming schedule. In addition to several returning shows, Brat is also introducing The Talent Show, a competition series where fans will vie for a spot on Brat's roster of talent. Over 2,000 entrants have already submitted audition tapes. "Our first year was all about finding an audience," said Brat co-founder Rob Fishman. "Now, with millions of dedicated viewers, we need to keep them engaged and entertained." Chicken Girls is among the shows returning to Brat. In its third season, Rhyme (Annie LeBlanc) and her friends enter high school, where they meet new friends, confront new enemies and try out for a country & western-themed musical. The first two seasons of Chicken Girls have amassed 150 million views on YouTube and the spawned feature-length film Chicken Girls: The Movie. The new season is being directed by Nayip Ramos and will feature a few new castmembers, including Jay Ulloa (La Banda), Sissy Sheridan (Maniac) and Isabel Marcus (This Is Us). Also returning is the fantasy series Total Eclipse, which stars Mackenzie Ziegler (Dance Moms) and Lauren and Johnny Orlando. The new season, which also features Emily Skinner (Andi Mack), was written by Meg Favreau and directed by Chris Campbell. Logan Pepper and Bryce Xavier are joining the cast. Other returning shows include Dirt, a gritty look at the world of motocross racing, and Mani, starring Hayley LeBlanc and Piper Rockelle. Brat announced last month that it had raised $30 million in funding led by Anchorage Capital. Other backers include Shari Redstone's Advancit Capital, Lerer Hippeau Ventures and NBA player Kevin Durant. Summer 2018 has proven to be quite a defining time for Brat! The network premiered premiered 5 brand new shows and a Chicken Girls original movie in the span of one month! With many of their newest shows breaking out on the channel, their original movie became Brat's biggest release yet, garnering 2 million views in its first day!
